Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

This category is best suited for foreign workers who have at one-ear of work experience in Canada. They are eligible to apply under Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program given that they meet all requirements. It was developed for temporary foreign workers and foreign graduates with qualifying Canadian work experience and this also includes international students working in Canada after completion of their study.

 

Eligibility Requirements

The applicant need to have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply:

  • Full-time at 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full-time (1,560 hours)
  • Equal amount in part-time work: for example, 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
  • Note that self-employment and co-op work terms do not count for students in their work terms
  • Meet the minimum Language requirements based on the job type and skill
    • CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs
    • CLB 5 for NOC B jobs
  • Must plan to live outside the province of Quebec

After the applicant meets the minimum requirement for this program they can successfully enter the pool of express entry.Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducts periodic draws from the pool, and highest ranked candidates are sent an invitation to apply (ITA). You get 90 days to submit your application after you receive the ITA. This program is popular among the international students and its one of the simplest and fastest paths to become permanent resident.
